“I go to Paris, I go to London, I go to Rome, and I always say, “There’s no place like New York. It’s the most exciting city in the world now. That’s the way it is. That’s it.”

Winter 2023/24 Edition

Welcome to the first edition of UNSCHARF. A completely analog magazine in times like these! "Sometimes the old ways are the best." But that doesn't mean we're closing ourselves off from new developments. On the contrary. The idea behind the magazine is to demonstrate the connection between good design and the world of photography. Analog meets digital. Readers will encounter works from both worlds.

We aim to explore, with concrete examples, how photography and design fare in the world dominated by AI-driven PROMPTOGRAPHY and how new tools disrupt visualization. However, we will remain true to our belief in handmade creativity, the ability to create something new and original.

UNSCHARF is a platform for young talents and established artists. In this issue, we meet ADA EZE from Frankfurt, who is pursuing a career as a model. In the sections "Report" and "Rincon," we attempt to present some interesting and lovable discoveries. Things, places, establishments that have caught our attention. This issue's regional focus is on New York City.

Always fascinating: The Grand Central Station in New York City. Today, more than 500,000 people use the station daily, making it the most visited building in the city. Simultaneously a place of longing and a backdrop for famous Hollywood films. Here, in conjunction with the Chrysler Building, as seen from 42nd Street and Park Avenue.

Street scene with a well-dressed pedestrian and a color-coordinated environment.

Dumbo View, Brooklyn. Also a setting for famous films. A classic view that is a must-see for every visit to New York City.

Ada Eze described the New York Fashion Week as a mega experience, as she mentioned in the interview. She was glad to have walked the runway as a model there and looks forward to more runway experiences. She found the pre-work in the studio with Alex to be helpful preparation.

Whether it was James Bond or today's musician and painter Udo Lindenberg as a prominent resident of the "white castle on the Alster," the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg has been hosting illustrious guests from around the world since 1909. Guests have included figures such as Charles de Gaulle, Josephine Baker, Gina Lollobrigida, and Michael Jackson.

The Hamburg City Hall is an architecturally magnificent building located on the Kleine Alster. It was constructed from 1886 to 1897 in the historicist style of North German Neo-Renaissance.

Linda Zervakis visibly enjoyed her time at Photopia in Hamburg. She volunteered as a model for a photo shoot with the largest remaining Polaroid camera available.
